Player: Joseph Bachman
Class: 2023
Height: 6’9
School: Greensboro Day
There is plenty of talent still left in the class of 2023 and one player that college coaches may want to look into more is 2023 6’9 Joseph Bachman at Greensboro Day. We recently got another viewing of the senior forward at the Carmel MLK and came away extremely impressed with his overall impact. Bachman is such a competitor and has terrific feel and instincts, especially with his ability to impact the game on the boards. But he is strong, plays with a terrific motor, tough, fluid scorer in the paint, and has good footwork to his game; and he does a great job in being that bruiser/hardwork on the boards. He showed that at the Carmel MLK Showcase, racking up an impressive 15 boards to help his team win.
Bachman is one that should garner more attention late; he has proven himself in what he can provide, continues to get better, and has been a vital part of Greensboro Day’s success this season.
What Was Said:
He’s a strong, mobile, high-motor post prospect with touch, toughness, and a clear willingness to outwork opponents on both ends of the floor. Bachman typically operates with his back to the basket, where he’s proven to be a polished scorer, but can also step out and knock down perimeter jumpers at a respectable clip. He’s an excellent rebounder who utilizes his body and truly just outworks opponents for extra opportunities. Bachman alters shots effectively and runs the floor properly in transition Coach Whaley on Bachman: “Joseph is very good with his back to the basket. He’s a good finisher and passer out of the post. Plays with a high IQ on both ends of the floor.” Bachman continued to highlight an extremely reliable identity at camp, and should be an obvious target for college coaches going forward.” – NC Top 80 Evaluation
“Bachman had a performance that may not have caught your eye first off, but when you go back and look at the tape and dive into the stats, you can see that he had a big impact on the game. He was a monster on the boards, racking up 15 boards and really being disruptive against Chambers in the paint; made it tough for opponents and really limited them in second-chance opportunities. Bachman though was fierce and competes, battles hard down in the paint, has nice touch around the basket, and really goes after the ball on the boards.”
“One would think the appeal of a strong, sturdy 6-foot-9 post prospect with feel, footwork, and toughness should be coveted throughout the country. Although Bachman is somewhat of a throwback big, plenty of notable college programs still find a ton of success traditional post players. He displays touch, mobility, and an active motor on both ends of the floor. Bachman is a strong finisher with a fundamentally sound approach, which allows him to control the glass while altering shots and capitalizing on offensive chances.”
