6'1 2021, DaVeon Thomas is on the verge of a breakout on the Division one radar after a strong' first year, and a he's carried that momentum into the travel ball season.

Thomas was a key player for Lee Central last season, he averaged 11 points and about six assists on the year. Thomas was thrown into the fire and responded exceptionally well, he was pitted against some of the top guards in South Carolina as a freshman 'and Thomas more than held his own.

' The season was good I know I got to keep improving, I got to work on my pull up jumper and work with the team. If I work with the team and be a leader everything will be good.' Thomas told Phenom Hoops.

A few weeks ago Thomas shined in our Summer Grind showcase. He was noticeably bigger than a year ago when Thomas competed in the Phenom SC Top 80 camp. Thomas is one of the purest scorers in the 2021 SC cycle, he's relentless attacking the cup and Thomas is legitimately playing above the rim now, the jump shot continues to improve Thomas is reliable from deep if left open, Thomas is effective from mid range the pull up looks more polished with every rep. Thomas is tough in isolation he’s got a bevy of dribble drive moves in the bag, and he has a tendency to bully guards his age.Da pic

Thomas was more of a combo guard this time last year but he's transforming into a true lead guard. Thomas has the unselfish mentality and playmaking ability to make players around him better, Thomas is a guy that wants to get his teammates involved. Thomas sees the floor well in the early stages, he's coming along with the decision making also which should cut down some unnecessary turnovers.

Thomas is still learning the position, but he's got the instincts and abilities to master it. Thomas is a two – way guy he's praised for the scoring ability, but you also have to admire the defensive presence. Thomas is a lock down on ball defender when he's strapped in, Thomas has a stocky build and long arms, he's got quick feet and Thomas moves laterally with the best.

Most recently Thomas impressed at the Adidas Gauntlet finales with SC powerhouse Upward Stars, he will have another chance to etch his name in nationally within the 2021 class at the upcoming Future 150 camp.

'Im looking forward to the competition I know the best 150 will be there so I have to attack and show them I can be ranked too.' Thomas said.

Currently hometown school Newberry College are showing strong interest, this will be the first of many. Just like one of his favorite rappers Lil Baby, 'Thomas seems to be on the rise in the South.
