The class of 2026 is shaping up nicely early on, and one of the top guards that we have talked about countless times is catching on with college programs. 2026 Kobe Edwards, a lengthy guard at Greenfield, continues to make strides and add more to his game, and college programs are jumping on board early on. Edwards, who already holds multiple D1 offers, added a big offer this week from Illinois, as we caught up with him and bring more awareness about his game.

Thoughts on the Offer and Program:

“It definitely caught me by surprise. With Illinois being one of the top schools in the country, I am very honored for the opportunity. My parents called me to let me know about the offer.”

Game Continues to Grow:

“Over the last year, I think I have improved a lot by just staying in the gym, working on my overall game.”

What Has Been Said from Phenom Hoops in the Past:

“Edwards was one of the most impressive freshmen that I saw at the event; I was blown away by what I saw and I’m very excited to see how he continues to develop his game.’ But the 6’0 point guard was electric with the ball in his hands, showing his speed, his ability to create, and most importantly, his understanding of the game.’ He is a young guard that wants the ball in his hands; he wants to be the one making the plays.’ Edwards displayed a tremendous ability in being able to create off the dribble, tremendous handles, and knowing how to create for himself. But he also showed a tremendous knowledge of the game at a young age.’ He is a long 6’0 guard with size 12 shoes already’ it will be interesting to see how much he continues to grow. But right now, he has shown that he looks to be one of the premier guards in the class of 2026 early on.” – 2022

“Among all the guards ranked thus far, Kobe Edwards has the most enticing crossroads between current ability and long-term upside. He’s already quite dynamic with the combination of IQ, skill, and athleticism to make a constant impact on both ends of the floor. Edwards offers great balance as a floor general, displaying unselfishness, scoring prowess, and the ability to consistently generate clean looks for others. He possesses a crafty handle and a quick first step, which allows him to reliably break down opposing guards, touch the paint, and make quality reads as a playmaker. That being said, Edwards is also capable of applying consistent pressure as a scorer from all levels or in transition. On the other end, he stands out as a quality defender at the point of attack and highlights great instincts for intercepting passing lanes. Expect Edwards to warrant a lot of attention as he continues to physically develop.” – 2023

“There is a lot to like about Edwards and what he may ultimately be in the end. He is a 6’1 point guard that is extremely long, has a tremendous wingspan, has grown even more over the last year, and shows that he can be a dynamic player with the ball in his hands. He was tremendous in creating off the dribble, get to the basket, and delivering on-point passes to his teammates. Edwards certainly can be electric with the ball in his hands, and it will be interesting to see how he develops.” – 2023
