Appalachian State was able to secure a commitment in 2023 Joshua Hayes from Florida, as he recently announced that he would be joining the Mountaineer program. Hayes is a 6’9 forward and is now Appalachian State’s second commitment for the Class of 2023, now joining Etienne Strothers.
Hayes recently made a visit to Boone when Appalachian State took on North Carolina to start the season and it didn’t take long for him to know that was the place for him. Phenom Hoops spoke with Hayes about his decisions. Here is what he had to say.
“The coaching staff was really honest with me and told me what my role will look like next year,” Hayes said. “Also, it isn’t far from Florida, which is great! (The visit) sold me completely but I didn’t want to commit on the visit because all visits are great. I told all of them at the same time and they all ran in circles with excitement”4
