Charlotte Christian battled all week, dropping a couple of tough losses in pool play. As all great teams do, the Knights found a way to adjust en-route to eventual perfection in bracket play, where they brought home the title. Christian has a roster capable of making a state championship run this season, with 3 standout players, in particular, I want to take a closer look at.

2024 Micah Gilbert (Charlotte Christian/Team Curry)

In a tournament filled with talented and well-built guards, Micah Gilbert was one rare prospect exhibiting both. The young lead guard stands about 6’2.5 and showed his ability to consistently attack on the offensive end. I was impressed with how Gilbert got downhill and finished at the rim with both hands. I feel that Gilbert will likely become a star for the Knights going forward.

2023 Bryce Cash (Charlotte Christian/Team Curry)

One of the most heralded players of the week coming into pool play, Bryce Cash is a well-built, two-way combo guard that made his presence felt as well. Cash is one of the more physically imposing players a guard can face at the varsity-level, considering he’s about 6’4 with a rock solid build. I’m not one to predict weight, but I find it hard to believe Bryce is anywhere below 215 lbs, with fluidity to compliment that frame. He defends the opposing team’s best, and is a bruising force with the ball in his hands.

2025 John Lash (Charlotte Christian/Team Charlotte)

Every time I saw Lash, I made it a purpose to find someone and tell them “that kid just left the 8th grade.” While seemingly repetitive, I felt that it was necessary to shed light on one of the most physically gifted 2025 prospects I’ve seen. Lash is a 6’5 forward with a rock-solid frame, likely attributed to his talents on the baseball diamond. His motor is irreplaceable, paired with his size allowing him to instantly make an impact on the varsity level without complication. Despite his age, teams should approach each game against Charlotte Christian understanding that they will need to focus on attacking the glass, as Lash most certainly will.
