“All Guilford County” 2nd Team Public Schools
Public School Preseason All Guilford County 2nd Team
5’10 2019 Devin Resper (Grimsley High School)
Devin is usually one of smaller players on the court during most games but don’t let the size fool you. Resper is quick guard who can flat out shoot the ball both off the catch and the bounce. I expect Devin to up his point total and really make a statement on his last season of High School ball.
5’11 2019 Justin Matthews (Eastern Guilford High School)
Justin will be one of the best point guards in the county this year. He will be one of the leaders of the young Eastern Guilford team who lost 95 percent of their scoring from last year. Justin is the type of player who you need to win games plays both ends and is a vocal leader. Over the summer when he wasn’t on the floor you could tell the difference with the team because he always puts his teammates in the best situations to score. I’m looking for Justin to have an All-Conference season while leading the conference in assist.
6’1 2019 Nic Cheeley (Eastern Guilford High School)
Cheeley is the lead by example player he will bring the football toughness and mentality that you want to rub off on your whole team. You need guys like this he is a in your face defender that causes problems all game long and is a terror once he gets out in transition. East Kentucky commit (Football)
6’3 2019 Christian Martin (Southwest Guilford High School)
Martin is a strong athletic player who will play multiple positions for the Cowboys this year. Even with him being 6’3 he will be one of the better rebounders in the area just because he outworks everyone else. Last year’s team he was the second option on offense and put up 13.5 points and 5.7 rebounds.
6’4 2019 Dhieu Deing (High Point Central High School)
Deing will be one of the top scorers in the county, last year he averaged 17.2 PPG and I see him going over that this year. He is a long athletic guard that’s always in attack mode once he gets in the lane he is looking to finish above the rim. It’s hard not to like an athletic 6’4 guard who can guard multiple positions with range well past the 3 point line and plays hard the entire game.
6’4 2019 Julius Burch (Southern Guilford High School)
Burch is one of the most versatile defenders in not just the area but the state in my opinion. On the High School level he is able to guard 1-4 and some situations even the 5. Burch is an energy giver typical 3 and D athletic wing who is tough driving to the basket and can stretch the floor and knock down the 3 ball when left open.
6’9 2020 Kuluel Mading (High Point Central High School)
If you are little older in age like me you will remember the toy Stretch Armstrong who you could pull and stretch anyway you want too. Well Kuluel reminds me of stretch he is a long limb human fly swatter who just causes havoc in the paint area for anyone willing to come in there. At the current stage he is more advance on the defensive end of the court but his offense game is developing. With the productive summer he had he was able to pick up his firsttoffer from Western Carolina.
