River City Reign 16U

For the second day in a row at Northwest, the 16u River City Reign put on a show with their play. Each player seems to complement each other and understand their role on the floor. They also have a very good mixture of size and guards, with many players capable of scoring. A lot starts with 2017 Zach Jacobs, but Johquin Wiley, Mario Haskett, Jyles Webster, and several others certainly make it a complete team. They let up a little in the second half of Day 2, but still were impressive.

WCBA Elite Blue 17U

This team might have played the best first half of basketball on Day 2. They were everywhere on the floor; nice array of attacking the basket, while knocking down outside shots. IN the first half, they had seven different players in the scoring column, with John Burwell leading the way with 10 points.

Team F.L.Y 16U

Played well in their first game but had a battle the second day. They still were impressive and continued to play well throughout the day, squeaking out a victory early in Day 2.

Carolina Preps

Finished the two day event with a 2-1 record and could have been 3-0 after a slow start on Day 1 before falling in a heartbreaker. But no matter what, they certainly have some very nice pieces on the team including point guard Jacob Riddles, sharp shooter Thomas Smith, and two big men with a nice touch around the basket in Terrell Davis and Adam Lovelace.

Team Loaded VA

If you haven’t seen this team play, you might want to catch them next time because the talent on this squad might have been the best in the tournament. In a late night game, they made their way over to Northwest to take on Team Impact. The talent was just to much to overcome with a Top 100 player in Javin-Montgomery DeLaurier, Nic Sherod, Mamadi Diakite, and several others. This was by far the best team that stepped on the floor for the 17U.

SEBL 17U

In the other gym, it was another classic battle between two other talented 17U programs in SEBL 17U vs. USA United 17U. SEBL has some names that several might recognize from past events, but players like Quentin Jackson (a very gifted and talented guard attracting several Division I programs) and Franklin Ugochukwu (2017 big man with a wider frame and gaining interest from several programs early), among others. Took on a very good USA United team with Iran Bennett and company and took home a win to end the day in Day 2 at Northwest.
