The talent around the region that is still available in the Class of 2025 is eye-opening, but Phenom Hoops is here to highlight players who are must-see prospects for D1 schools if they are looking to secure a late snag in the class. This is a series of articles that will be bringing new names for schools to take a hard look at.

2025 6’3 Johnniyus Sharpe

Sharpe is one that I have consistently said should be a target for D1 schools and believe these schools are going to regret not making him a target, especially programs around the area.  Every time we have watched Sharpe, he has produced and proven his worth, and you aren’t going to find many better competitors on the court than him. Sharpe understands how to fill it up and do so within the offense, playing off the ball to knock down his shots from multiple levels, finishing at the rim with authority, embracing contact and creating well, and making smart decisions on the court. Sharpe is a HUGE competitor and just seems to be looking to prove himself, and I believe that several D1 programs could use a player like that on their roster.

What Has Been Said:

“Sharpe has been having a strong season overall, helping lead his team offensively and showing to many that he may be one of the better offensive threats in the state for his class. He first went off for 29 points in Game 1 and then backed that up with a 33-point performance, simply doing it all. Sharpe has elevated his game, especially in his ability to knock down shots from multiple levels. He is dangerous from the perimeter, rising up with his athleticism and comfortably knocking down shots with range and consistency. Time after time, he hit multiple threes or mid-range shots with ease but he mixed it up extremely well. Attacking off the bounce, getting to his spots in catch-and-shoot situations, and finishing at the rim… he effectively put on a show offensively.  And it looks like he has a tremendous opportunity to continue that trend this upcoming season.”

“Sharpe is a polished creator, both for himself and others, with the necessary vision, handle, and scoring prowess to get whatever he wants offensively. Whether creating for himself or finding opportunities without the ball, he causes consistent problems for opponents. Sharpe mixes it up from all levels but still looks to make the right play with the ball in his hands. He’s a scrappy defender with the quickness and physicality to make his presence felt defensively.”
