Over the next couple of weeks we will take a look at those who are doing extremely well on the court. Cream of the Crop will cover the 2017, 2018, and 2019 classes highlighting those who are at the top of the class when it comes to bringing in offers and drawing national attention.
6’4 CG Jalek Felton (Team Felton/GCA)
By now Jalek needs no introduction locally or nationally. Coming into this upcoming season ESPN has him ranked #24 nationally for the class of 2017. In South Carolina he claims the 2017 #1 spot and rightfully so. Jalek is a silky smooth PG who loves to get his teammates involved, but can also get it done by himself when needed. After dominating the UA Circuit this summer he topped it off with winning the UA Elite24 3 point shoot-out. Along with that he also claimed MVP honors alongside Zion Williamson, another South Carolina native. This summer Felton took another big step by transferring to Gray Collegiate Academy. GCA will compete in South Carolinas 2A high school division, along with playing a national level schedule. Felton will look to lead this young squad to the ultimate goal of achieving a State Championship. If you haven’t had a chance to see Felton play, I’d be sure to check the UNC commit out this winter.
6’3 SG Jordan Davis (Team Loaded NC/Dutch Fork)
As far as blowing up goes Davis had an outstanding summer. He received 17 scholarship offers with Cincinnati, Virginia Tech, and Miami being amongst some of the big names to offer. Jordan first came onto the scene while playing with SC kings. This past summer playing in the Adidas Uprising with Team Loaded NC he was able to showcase his skills. Davis has a strong body build that will allow him a chance to play right away at the next level. He’s very quick with the ball and a very good passer. He shoots extremely well from mid -range and beyond the arc. On the defensive end he’s always coming up with steals. While on a visit to Dayton, they were able to obtain his verbal commitment. Davis will look to be instrumental in Dutch Forks championship quest this season.
6’2 PG Temetrius “JA” Morant (Team SC/Crestwood HS)
Arguably one of the biggest sleepers of the summer, we have Ja Morant. Morant came into the July Live period with only 3 offers. After great showings at both the Summer Havoc, and Summer Jam Morant left with 12 offers to his name. The likes of South Carolina, Murray State, UTEP, and Wofford were among those to offer. No stranger to scoring points in bunches he left the Summer Jam averaging 40.4 pts through 4 games. When it comes to getting buckets there’s no one in the state that’s better. He can get to the basket with ease and finish through contact. He also packs a smooth jumper with extended range. On the defensive end he excels with his ability to jump into passing lanes to get steals. Temetrius is a 2-time South Carolina All-State player so far in his high school career. With a talented Crestwood HS basketball team there’s no reason why they shouldn’t make a 4A State title run this upcoming season. Temetrius committed to Murray State this past weekend.
