What a year it has been for Queen’s Grant; they have their new coach as we all welcomed back head coach Joe Badgett to North Carolina, as well as a new roster that has been starting to come together this season.
Early on, Queen’s Grant had to figure out a few things with this year’s roster, blending in talent, experience, and youth, as well as having a team come together overall with new faces helping lead the way. But credit to Coach Badgett and his staff, as he has seemingly figured out his roster and has them flying high midway through the season. And it got us thinking… with the roster they have today along with what this program may have in the coming years with the young talent they have, could Queen’s Grant be on the verge of a dynasty?
This year’s team is looking strong and there may not be a team that could get in their way to slow them down, as they are clear contenders in the 1A Division. Now, a few teams will be looking to knock them off for sure and the season is still long, but Queen’s Grant has everything they need to cut down the nets this year.
And with a lineup that consists of many freshmen and sophomores leading the way, this may just be the start for Coach Badgett and his program. Guard play has been strong behind 2028 Bobby Montgomery, 2028 Mekhi Allen, 2027 Preston Scott, and others. They also have some impressive talent down low with 2028 Chase Smith and 2027 Cannon DeBerry, all of which could return over the next few years.
That only means that this group, which has been clicking well early on, will be reunited for several years, develop even better chemistry, and be a strong nucleus for the coming years for Coach Badgett, a proven winner at the high school level here in North Carolina. That could be a strong recipe for success, as Queen’s Grant has several of the key pieces that could allow them to go on a role in the coming years and possibly a strong dynasty here in North Carolina.
