Each year in the high school basketball landscape, we see new players emerge and learn how to take their game to the next level. Although he’s already a known entity, DeAnte Green is someone that could see a massive uptick in production next season. With Justice Ajogbor (Harvard) and Ray Faison set to graduate, Christ School should be completely led by Green. While there has been no doubts or questions about his skill level, scoring ability, and overall offensive savvy, it will be very interesting to see how he captains the ship.
For starters, Green is smart and works well with others but isn’t necessarily a loud, vocal presence. He’s a proven low-post scorer who has gradually transitioned his game towards the perimeter, and this season will be about showcasing his balance between the two avenues. Green could easily post-up twenty or more times a game, but seems to naturally cause matchup problems against opponents of his size and understands how to properly exploit those mismatches. His three-point shooting has been a main area of focus over the last calendar year, which has ultimately made him a respectable spot-up threat. However, Green also actively looks to attack closeouts and make plays off the bounce whenever necessary. He’s taken the necessary steps to continually add to his game over the years, and could be even better next season.
In terms of improvements, Green has already acknowledged what needs to be addressed. He has the tools to be a dominant two-way rebounder and should have the opportunity to anchor the middle with his frontcourt mate departing. Playing with a nonstop motor and working on his passing out of the post will directly elevate his defensive prowess while making him tougher for opponents to contain. As far as the bigger picture goes, Green is already a noted high-major prospect who will only continue to collect offers. That being said, could Green take the next step and stand out as the productive, unquestioned leader for Christ School next season'
