Ardrey Kell looks to have a very talented team, one that if it all comes together, can take home a title.  Coach Mike Craft certainly should feel good this year with the players he has; players that can operate on multiple levels and can take over a game.

However, one of the youngest players on the team is 6’3 Brandon Nelson, a player that understands his role and what he offers on the court.  Watching Nelson play earlier in his career and during the summer, one can easily say that his confidence level continues to climb with his shot-making ability.

Nelson does a tremendous job in finding and getting to his spots, knowing that with this team, his role is to spread the floor and defense.  Against South Meck to start the season, Nelson played probably one of his best games we have seen him play, finishing with 19 points, going 4-for-5 from three but also pulling up with his mid-range shot as well.

The 2023 prospect showed a good understanding of finding the open spot on the court and letting it fly, but also being decisive in his one-dribble pull-up or coming off a screen and pulling up.

In the 51-49 win for Ardrey Kell, every point was needed from Nelson but he wasn’t afraid of the spotlight, stepping up when his team needed him and making tough shot after tough shot.   The confidence continues to grow in this sophomore’s game and it could just be the start, as he certainly caught eyes and could catch more down the road with his development.
