Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Anthony Breland
Class: 2023
Committed to: Youngstown State

What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:

“Breland has completely transformed his body, in person, you notice immediately how much he’s bulked up. Breland remains the same bucket-getter he’s always been, but Breland looked more polished scoring the rock, and more poised with his approach to the game as a lead guard. Breland is a steady shot maker still, the added muscle has prepared him to better take on contact at the cup as well. Breland also seemed to balance being a playmaker more efficiently, he’s capable of playing either guard spot. Defensively Breland was active in passing lanes, and over the weekend aided in the rebound efforts.”

“The crafty guard has always been extremely talented, but it seems like everything is starting to pay off. Breland is a potent three-level scorer with the blend of IQ, creativity, and creation skills to get whatever he wants offensively. Whether pull-ups, three-pointers, or smooth finishes around the basket, he knows how to overwhelm opponents with a healthy variety of nonstop pressure. Breland possesses great vision and can reliably create for others. He also displays defensive instincts and an understanding of how to produce alongside another primary ball-handler.”

“Breland put on a scoring clinic in Session 1 and he backed that up once again during the second LIVE period.  The 6’4 guard continues to show that he can create and get any shot he wants, getting downhill, embracing contact, and finding ways to finish through.  But he also showed he is a multi-level scorer that can get where he wants; to put it simply, he is wired to score and wouldn’t be denied.”

“Breland has been a common name on this list of standouts but what he has shown at this event is that he can go get his own shot and create very well for himself.  With his sturdy 6’4 frame, Breland has no problem going downhill and getting to the basket, finishing strong through defenders, but also creating for himself in other ways.  Has continued to fill it up all week long and we don’t see him slowing down any time soon.”

“After everything we’ve seen over the last few weeks, no one should be surprised about Breland’s sheer dominance with this group. He’s a crafty guard with impressive vision, shot-creation skills, and overall scoring prowess. Breland can assert himself in a variety of different ways, and understands how to take what the defense is giving him. He’s also a capable rebounder and defender.”
