Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Jeremy Dixon
Class: 2022
Committed to: Winston Salem State

What the Player Said:

Phenom: What made WSSU the place for you in the end'
Dixon: They have been my dream school since a toddler, just growing up going to football games, visiting friends, etc. Just made me feel like home.  The coaching staff made me feel welcomed and loved and it's closer to home so my mom can come to games.

Phenom: What is it like, looking back now, being able to play for your dream school'
Dixon: It is a dream come true honestly. I look back to times when I wanted to give up, went through depression and stress thinking I wasn't going to play in college, but I stayed in the lab and worked hard to get what I wanted.

Phenom: What do you think you can provide to the program and what do they want you to bring to the program'
Dixon: I feel as if I can come right in as a freshman being a leader, shooter, defensive threat, and rebounder.  Honestly, I'm an all-around basketball player, so whatever he needs me to do I can do.  He wants me to be aggressive, rebound, and shoot the ball.

Phenom: When you reflect on your time at Kinston, what are some of the things you will take away from your HS career'
Dixon: The childish days are over, days when I wasn't locked in are over, being lazy in areas, etc. Things like that, I have to put aside and become a man.

What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:

'Although one would expect a lot of recruitment for the 6-foot-6 primary leader for a prestigious Kinston program, Dixon hasn't gotten a fair shake. Like most players listed, he's another guy who would've probably already collected offers and committed in a normal year. However, college coaches are keeping things way closer to the chest than ever before. The idea of passing on a long, tough, athletic wing/forward prospect with nice versatility on both ends of the floor has become a new luxury. When did we get to a point where programs can afford to not pursue or prioritize someone like Dixon' He possesses the skill, mentality, and general physical traits to be an asset for a variety of different programs. Dixon could be even better at the next level.'

'It should come as no surprise to see another Kinston prospect emerging as one of the better players in the class, and Jeremy Dixon has been nothing short of impressive over the last calendar year. At a long, wiry 6-foot-6, he possesses the frame, athleticism, and overall skillset to really overwhelm opponents on both ends of the floor. Dixon is a reliable perimeter shooter, especially from beyond the arc, but also regularly applies downhill pressure as a penetrator and finisher. He's also a strong rebounder and versatile defender with IQ and toughness. After earning a Charleston Southern offer in October, one should expect scholarship-level programs to continue getting involved.'

'Dixon continues to elevate his play and really seems to be ready to show that his game has taken another level… so watch out this summer and upcoming high school season.  The 6'6 prospect makes his presence felt, especially with his blend of explosion, physicality, athleticism, and versatility.  He can knock down jumpers but also gets to the rim, and he can really be a key piece defensively as he has the size to defend at multiple spots. Dixon continues to get stronger and it is really paying off in the end for him.'
