Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: John Baldwin
Class: 2023
Committed to: Winston Salem State

What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:

'Similar to the previous entry, Baldwin sports an absolutely massive frame and seems to steadily progress with each viewing. He's a strong, physically overwhelming post prospect with solid touch, shooting ability, and rebounding instincts. Baldwin isn't necessarily a vertical athlete but is tall, long, and strong enough to finish at the rim and consistently anchor the paint defensively. He plays hard, works for extra opportunities, and understands how to make an impact without forcing the action. Baldwin's body and general fluidity only seem to improve with time, so college programs would be smart to get involved sooner than later.'

'For starters, his legit 6-foot-11 frame will make spectators and onlookers take a second glance. Baldwin is truly huge, but doesn't let his size dictate his identity as a player. He possesses soft hands, solid footwork, and great activity around the basket'both as a defender and rebounder. Baldwin alters shots as a nice rate, displays unselfishness with the ball, and never tries to force the action or do too much. Refining his body and getting in better basketball shape is going to be a major factor in his overall appeal to college coaches. However, between his IQ, strength, toughness, and willingness to play hard, the tools are already in place for Baldwin to become an excellent player.'

'On Day 1, Baldwin was one of a few players that elevated their play and grabbed the attention of many.  Baldwin will catch your attention with his 6'11 frame, but he was able to carve out and show great touch around the basket, finishing well in the paint.  If he didn't do that, he was able to get to the line.  Baldwin is an unsigned big man that schools could look at more from what they saw on Day 1.'

'One of several bigs for Northwood Temple, Baldwin was the most effective on the court.  His ability to be effective down in the paint, finishing with soft touch around the basket or get to the line as well as being a presence on the boards, he really helped his team stay within striking distance in this game. Also gave people a glimpse that he can step out with his shot.'
