Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day. It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.
Here is the latest commitment.
Player: Jordan Miller
Class: 2023
Committed to: Wingate
What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:
“We look at a player that arguably stood out as the main leader and overall tone-setter of this team throughout the day, Jordan Miller. He’s a smart, tough, well-rounded guard prospect with the tools to reliably dictate the offensive action from either backcourt position. Miller is a crafty ball-handler and playmaker with the necessary approach to seek out the best available option on nearly every possession. He’s a quality athlete with a rugged defensive nature, strong instincts for forcing turnovers, and the ability to apply pressure in transition at a seemingly nonstop rate. Miller scores the ball effectively from all levels, makes a nice impact on the glass, and simply stands out as a competitor that every type of coach should want on their team. Coach Washington on Miller: “Jordan was the leader of our group today. He handled the point guard position and was vocal on defense. He facilitated and scored from all three levels from start to finish. I can’t wait to see how Jordan develops during the high school season; he will be one to watch.” Miller was clearly among the top performers on display, and should be a breakout candidate during his upcoming season at Dorman.”
“Given everything we’ve previously seen, it should come as no surprise to see Miller continue to shine as a catalyst for this group. He naturally does a little bit of everything, and seems to affect all facets of the game as a direct result. Miller is smart, tough, athletic, and polished, which makes him a pretty complete guard prospect. He should definitely warrant attention from scholarship-level coaches.”
“Although the Upward Stars Upstate group is very balanced, Miller always seems to find ways to stand out as a leader. He’s smart, tough as nails, and really embodies a rugged defensively mentality. Miller rebounds at a strong rate for his size/position, looks to create for others, and scores the ball at an efficient clip from all levels. His all-around skillset should appeal to a lot of programs.”
“Given everything he provides on both ends of the floor, it would be difficult to say anything other than positives about Miller and his overall leadership status. He’s a very tough, smart, engaged guard prospect who knows how to consistently outwork his assignment on both ends of the floor. Miller handles the ball with care, sets up others, and scores the ball at an efficient rate from all levels. He’s also an excellent defender with toughness and great instincts. Expect him to receive offers going forward.”
“When watching him last season, Miller showed his team mentality on the floor, finding open teammates, getting others involved, and playing at a terrific pace. But watching him operate at the South Carolina Top 80, he has only added on to his game since then with his smooth shot-making ability, his IQ and feel for the game, and playing under control along with his terrific decision-making. He put on a terrific show, averaging 16.3 points per game throughout the event but never forcing anything on the floor. In all, Miller showed a complete game and a terrific balance that should have fans excited about watching him in a Dorman uniform once again this season. With the talent that was lost from last season, Miller has a chance to really step up in a big way and make himself well-known throughout the state of South Carolina.”
