Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day. It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.
Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Jordyn Surratt
Class: 2022
Committed to: USC Upstate
What is USC Upstate getting in Surratt:
I really like this grab by USC Upstate. Surratt joins the program with a great background at Dorman, especially one as a winner. But he so often was overlooked at times but every time he stepped on the court, he was able to produce. And when you look at his frame and game, there is a lot to like for the future fans. Surratt is a 6’6 wing prospect that is long, athletic, and versatile on the court. He can really make a big impact defensively but he also displays tremendous talent offensively with how he can operate on multiple levels. He can get to the rim, finishes strong, is strong on the boards, and continues to show his outside game that he is working on. Surratt is terrific out in transition, finishing through contact as well. With his body and frame though, there is a lot to like about Surratt’s game and what he ultimately could become in the coming years with the program. Getting a winner like Surratt from a prestigious program like Dorman is a big win for the school and it will be exciting to see his impact on the floor.

What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:
“Surratt’s game though is an intriguing one, as he sports a great frame and blends of skill, athleticism, and IQ on the floor. He is a drive-first type of guy and someone that loves to get the job done on both ends of the floor; a player that loves to bring energy to the floor. When watching him recently at the Upward Stars practice, it can be seen that he has been working on his perimeter game. But he also displayed great hands, ability to break down defenders, and a very good defender.”
“Easily one of the most frustrating recruiting situations in the Southeast, Surratt continues to soar under the radar amongst college coaches. It’s still genuinely perplexing to try and make sense of the confusion. Surratt is a long, strong, athletic 6-foot-6 wing/forward prospect with rebounding instincts, defensive versatility, and a low-maintenance offensive identity. We’ve addressed the nonsensical ideals from various coaches in the past. Furthermore, Surratt possesses workable shooting mechanics and a natural understanding of how to fill in the gaps as needed. It’s strange that folks are so determined to resist, considering he’s a terrific prospect and someone who should still be a priority for various Division I programs.”
“Surratt is a productive wing prospect, really excelling out in transition, finishing strong and through contact, and displaying really good athleticism on the court. He continues to develop his overall feel for the game and is becoming an even better and more dominant presence on both ends.”
“Surratt stepped up big for his team. You have to like Surratt’s size and, in this game, he showed that improved outside shot that he has continued to work on, knocking down a couple of threes including a big one late in the game to help seal the deal. But with his versatility, athleticism, he can really take advantage of multiple mismatches on the court. Really stepped up in this win.”
