Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Karon Boyd
Class: 2022
Committed to: USC-Aiken

What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:

'Boyd has been one of the most consistent players throughout his basketball career, whether it was during travel ball with the Charlotte Hoyas or if it has been during the high school season.  We have watched Boyd produce every time and he has been a standout on so many occasions.  The 6'5 prospect can operate and produce on many levels; whether you need him to battle on the boards and down in the paint, if you need him to defend multiple positions, or if you need him to be a threat from outside… he does it all.  This young man is relentless on the floor, putting his body on the line, playing a physical game, and simply fills up the stat sheet.  Boyd's motor and hustle on the court make him a tough matchup for any opponent and though some may consider him 'undersized' as a forward, the proof is in the numbers.'

'Production is the name of the game for this young man.  Boyd is one that can play many roles and balances them very well. With Cannon this past season, he wasn't necessarily the star for a team that was loaded with talent but he was absolutely a critical piece.  He stepped up when he needed to offensively, he plays bigger than listed down low if called upon but also stretches the floor and shows a nice consistency from behind the arc as well. But he also does the dirty work; gets on the boards, pushes the ball in transition, can create for himself and others, dives for loose balls, and holds plays accountable with his leadership.  He is a player with many traits.  But, do not mistake the perception that he doesn't have that ability to take over a game, because he can fill it up and has done so consistently with the Charlotte Hoyas.'

'6'5 Karon Boyd, a player that I certainly enjoy watching on the floor.  Boyd simply is a do-it-all type player, whether you need him to defend multiple positions, dive and create extra opportunities for his team, score from multiple levels, compete down in the post or on the glass, or even help facilitate and get the offense going, Boyd is one that puts his team first and simply helps his team rack up the wins.  Coaches would love to have that on their team, which is why it is a little surprising more schools haven't come into play for him.'

'Produce, Produce, Produce… it is the name of the game for Boyd.  There hasn't been a game that we have watched this summer and this season at Cannon in which Boyd didn't make his presence felt. This young man has an absolute motor and comes to work every time he steps on the court. Boyd brings a physical game with him, allowing him to battle in the post, attack the boards, and finish strong around the basket; really plays bigger than listed. But he also has that unique ability to defend multiple positions, create in transition, and be effective from outside.  He can fill up the stat sheet and I think he can do the same in the coming years for a college program.'
