Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Noah Hooper
Class: 2020
Committed to: Randolph College

What the Player Said:

PHR: What made Randolph College the place for you in the end'

Hooper: When I first visited the campus, I immediately felt at home after getting a warm welcome from the coaches and players. When I played in an open gym with the guys it’s like they immediately took me in as one of them which is something I look back on and will never forget. Another thing that made Randolph the right place for me was talking to the players about how the “small school environment” helped them adjust in their freshman year as professors were easily accessible.

PHR: What are the coaches hoping you can bring to the program'

Hooper: As I talked to the coaches, they told me that I will do a great job bringing my toughness. Being around the Charlotte Catholic Program for 3 years and playing for Mike King really brought out my gritty side as a player. Coach King really made me embrace doing the little things that most guys aren’t willing to do to help their team win such as taking charges, diving on loose balls, etc…

PHR: Heading to Myers Park, how did that help you showcase your skillset and talent'

Hooper: Heading to Myers Park really helped me a lot as a player because I proved to myself that I have the ability to be a “glue guy” in any system I play in. I felt that I took what I learned at Charlotte Catholic and applied it my current situation at Myers Park which I feel helped my team in ways that not many people saw.

PHR: You consistently caught the attention of us at Phenom Hoops camps.  What did those events and camps help show you and do for you in the long run'

Phenom Hoops camps and events really helped me because the competition was very stiff and I realized that I was not going to be the most talented player in every setting I go into. So with that being the case, I made sure I did the little things that other guys were not willing to do to help their team win. I feel that this mentality is the reason that I earned a chance to play basketball at the collegiate level.

PHR: What will be your focus now this offseason, preparing for the future at Randolph College'

My focus this offseason is to be more of an offensive threat and be able to shoot the ball at a high clip. Over time I want to be able to score from all three levels on a consistent basis. I feel that this will help me get my teammates involved easier once I am able to improve these parts of my game.

What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:

'Continuing onto a player that simply knows how to make his presence felt as a glue-guy in every setting, Noah Hooper. He's a smart, high-motor wing/forward prospect that shows a clear willingness to do whatever necessary to provide his team with an edge. Hooper can knock down perimeter jumpers, set up teammates, and make a ton of plays on defense.' – NC Phenom 150 evaluation in 2019

'A transfer from Charlotte Catholic last year, Hooper brings a lot of intrigue with what he can provide to the Mustangs this year.  He doesn't just bring experience, but his competitive, aggressive approach to the game immediately stands out.  There aren't too many that will outwork him.  Offensively, he has a constant motor and aggressively attacks the rim, as well as knock down the open jumper.' – Patrick O'Brien from Open Gym in 2019 'Every team needs a guy like Hooper, someone who is willing and ready to do whatever necessary to provide his team with an edge. He is a rare commodity given the amount of charges he takes and amount of effort he offers to non-scoring areas. Hooper should have college coaches interested, as he simply knows how to win basketball games.' – Jeff Bendel in 2019
