Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Jah Short
Class: 2023
Committed to: New Orleans

What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:

'He's a phenomenal leader that sets the tone on both ends of the floor. Short was a primary scoring option throughout the weekend, able to attack the basket whenever he desired while knocking down jumpers at a solid rate. He handles the ball well and has an unselfish approach, which allows him to create for others quite often. Short plays smart, under control, and understands how to make his presence felt in transition. There's already a lot to like about his game, so expect Short to continue developing into a two-way problem for the opposition.'

'Everyone knows about NC State commit Terquavion Smith, former floor general Justin Wright, and likely D2 superstar Samage Teel. However, with the latter duo departed for the collegiate ranks, Smith, Short, and Leontae Moye are left to keep the ship afloat. While Smith will likely dominate the scoring column on a nightly basis, don't be surprised to find Short leading in various other facets while still asserting himself as an efficient offensive weapon. Between his IQ, physical development, and blend of size, skill, and athleticism, the appeal should be fairly obvious. Add in his natural leadership and there's really nothing preventing Short from becoming a star in the very near future.'

'He's long, active, and has grown at a pretty consistent rate since his eighth-grade year. Short possesses a great frame, athleticism, and two-way understanding of how to control the action and stand out as a leader. He shoots the ball at an efficient clip, attacks the basket with ferocity, and has shown the ability to finish above the rim or through contact quite easily. Though Short didn't see a ton of playing time as a freshman, it was mainly due to their notable backcourt in Justin Wright and Terquavion Smith. However, folks should expect to hear his name a lot over the next few years''

'Given his returning status as their main leader, folks should already be well-aware of Short and all his appeal. He's a long, explosive guard with IQ, toughness, and exceptional downhill ability. Short is able to get downhill and seemingly finish anything he attempts, but also knocks down shots at a respectable rate. He's a useful creator, both for himself and others, and displays great anticipation defensively. Short thrives in the open floor but still applies a ton of pressure in the half-court.'
