Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Mekhi Grant
Class: 2023
Committed to: Morehead State

What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:

“Grant was fun to watch to start the weekend for his team, just giving a reminder to everyone just exactly what he provides.  You just don’t see many players at his size with his bounce, absolutely punishing the rim, finishing with authority, and also showing a good skillset to his overall game.  He is dangerous though when he is getting downhill and looking to finish at the rim.”

“2023 6’9 Mekhi Grant (Juice Prep): Already a name many know, Grant continues to make his presence felt in attacking and finishing with power at the rim but also adding more to his game. Displayed solid handles, can step out, and can be a monster in chasing blocks.”

“There’s never been a question about Grant and his incredible amount of talent, but it seems like he’s starting to tap into his upside. As a long, athletic, 6-foot-8 forward with constant flashes of skill and the tools to play inside or out (based on personnel), it’s easy to see the appeal. Grant finished around the basket, spaced the floor, and made a solid impact on the glass. Though already appealing, expect him to get better over the coming months.”

“Grant highlighted flashes of being an inside-out dynamo with major upside as a versatile defender. He displays touch, fluidity, and can stretch the floor decently well for his size/position. Although Combine’s frontcourt is arguably even better this upcoming season, Grant’s should still get ample opportunity to shine.” – 2020

““What’s not to like about a physically gifted and athletic power forward. Grant has the ability to overpower opposing players in the post. He has a solid skill set which will only improve over time, but plays with a blue-collar mentality. He’s a workhorse and runs the floor extremely well and often finishes with crowd-pleasing dunks.”
