Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day. It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Johnson: It was just the right fit for me academically and on the basketball side of things. The timing was perfect and they need a guy like me.
Q: What are you hoping to bring to the program'
Johnson: A winning mentality, leadership, being a gamechanger on both sides of the floor with my ball pressure defensively and the way I can create for not only myself but others as well on the offensive end.
Q: How did you inform the staff and what did they have to say'
Johnson: I told them my last day on my visit. The whole coaching staff and my family were at the table, I told them I loved everything about it and would love to come and were all excited.

'Moving onto a player that provided his team with a very balanced, well-rounded skillset on both ends of the floor, Randy Johnson. He's a strong-bodied point guard prospect that can operate in a variety of different roles and make his presence felt without needing to score. That being said, Johnson can easily apply scoring pressure from all three levels and understands when to defer to others versus when to take it himself. He sees the floor well and willingly looks to create opportunities for his teammates. Johnson has a strong enough blend of shooting and playmaking to thrive at either guard position. He's an excellent all-around defender that knows how to mirror his assignment and eliminate all operating space. Next in his development process is working to become an even better penetrator and finisher, as it would make him a more complete offensive player.
