Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Davis Molnar
Class: 2022
Committed to: Furman

What Furman is Getting:

What a snag for Furman.  Davis Molnar is a very intriguing prospect with his blend of size, versatility, and skillset.  Watching him over the years, Molnar plays with a tremendous attitude for the game and one can find success on the floor with him playing at multiple positions.  Standing at 6’7, you can see that Molnar is one that can make plays for himself as well as others. He has terrific vision and court awareness, while also showcasing his ability to score in all areas of the floor; you can plug him into so many situations and see him thrive.  Molnar can really fill up the stat sheet as well, helping get on the boards, racking up the assists, and using his size against smaller opponents. With his IQ and understanding of the game, as well as where he can thrive on the floor, Molnar is going to be a great piece for Furman down the road.

What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:

“It’s just so easy to appreciate his unselfish, versatile, passer-friendly game as a 6-foot-7 walking mismatch. First of all, Molnar is (without question) one of the top passers across the Carolinas—regardless of size, position, or anything else. His vision, leadership, and incredible playmaking sense add such a unique element to his overall identity. Molnar is a three-level scorer but shows a clear preference for getting downhill and attacking the basket whenever possible. He finishes very well through contact, but also makes sharp reads and will set up others in ideal scoring positions. Molnar is genuinely capable of bringing the ball up and running the offense as the primary creator, as he showed throughout the event. He can also operate with his back to the basket or find opportunities as a cutter or spot-up option. Molnar rebounds very well and reliably pushes the break in transition, which only further solidifies his rare blend of skills. It’s really difficult to overstate how impressive he’s been over the last year, which should resonate with various types of Division I programs.”

“Already holding a few offers already, more schools should be looking his way with what he provides for a team. He plays with a natural feel and with a terrific IQ, making simple plays whether it is for himself or for others.  Molnar has terrific vision in finding open teammates in the right spot but also with his 6’7 strong frame, he can body up defenders as well as step out with his perimeter shooting.”

“Each prospect on this list should be recruited at the Division I level, but it seems like coaches and spectators alike are still trying to figure out Davis Molnar. His offer sheet of Campbell, Elon, Ole Miss, and Bucknell is easily among the most unique of anyone in North Carolina. However, it’s fitting, given Molnar’s nightly averages of 16.8 PPG, 10.8 RPG, 6.4 APG, 2.4 SPG, and 1.6 BPG with shooting splits of 57/39/76. Regardless of situational context, no other player is putting up that type of production. In looking beyond his on-paper numbers, Molnar remains a very difficult matchup for opposing forwards. Despite already holding more offers than everyone listed, expect his scholarship count to continue rising.”
