Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day. It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.
Here is the latest commitment.

Player: De’Ante Green
Class: 2022
Committed to: Florida State
What is Florida State getting:
It looks like the Seminoles have hit again here in the state of North Carolina, securing one of the top prospects in the class of 2022 in De’Ante Green out of Asheville Christian. So what will he bring to the table for FSU? Well, he brings a tremendous 6’9 frame already and one that has shown the ability to operate in an array of ways. He has the skillset and ability to operate down low in the post, using his length and size to his advantage, finishing with touch and authority at the rim, while also being a strong presence on the boards. But Green has that unique ability to stretch the floor with his outside game, something he has worked on a lot of over the years. He understands how to create mismatches and operate on multiple levels, which makes him so hard to defend on the floor. Going to Florida State, he certainly will learn and develop more with his game but it gives Florida State another premier talent coming into their program.
Another Great Read about GREEN (from Rick Lewis): 6’8 2022 Deante Green “Beyond the Basketball Court”
What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:
“The 6’9 prospect gave us several reasons why he should be regarded as the top player in the state for his class for North Carolina and it is impossible to deny his impact on the court with his size and his skill set. Offensively, he really showed just how much of a mismatch he can be on the floor, using his size to body up and finish strong around the rim and in the paint, while also showing that he is tremendously comfortable facing up, creating for himself, and scoring from outside. Green can beat you in a variety of ways and is extremely mobile/fluid for his size. In Rock Hill, he displayed it all and it can easily be seen why schools from around the country are targeting him and his talents.” – Patrick O’Brien in 2021
“He’s a proven low-post scorer who has gradually transitioned his game towards the perimeter, and this season will be about showcasing his balance between the two avenues. Green could easily post-up twenty or more times a game, but seems to naturally cause matchup problems against opponents of his size and understands how to properly exploit those mismatches. His three-point shooting has been a main area of focus over the last calendar year, which has ultimately made him a respectable spot-up threat. However, Green also actively looks to attack closeouts and make plays off the bounce whenever necessary.” – Jeff Bendel in 2020
“Coming in, college coaches were making Green a priority to come and watch, especially teams that made his final list. And it is easy to see why, as Green showed why he is one of the top players in the country. What makes him so special with his unique game is his feel, his footwork, and how versatile he can be on the floor. Whether placing him along the outside with his perimeter game or his continuing growth and strength to battle down low, Green is simply a matchup nightmare for opponents. This is why his final schools were lining up to show how much they would love to have him down the road.” – Patrick O’Brien in 2021
“Although most folks should be pretty accustomed at this point, Deante Green continues to boost his stock as a useful piece at the high-major level. After transferring from Christ School to Asheville Christian in the middle of the season, he was tasked with becoming acquainted to an entirely new cast of teammates on the fly. It seemed to work out quite well, as Green’s rebounding and inside-out ability allowed the Lions to conclude their season with a six-game winning streak and victory in the state championship contest. Undoubtedly the most decorated prospect on this list, he holds an extensive offer sheet from all types of high-level programs throughout the country. Green has since announced his top-six schools. Given his production over the start of the travel ball season, Green has only continued to turn heads and should ultimately be a suitable addition for various programs at the next level.” – Jeff Bendel in 2021
