Each and every time Phenom Hoops gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Nick Dorn
Class: 2023
Committed to: Elon

What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:

“Again, Dorn is a 6’6 prospect that was able to showcase more of his game last year in helping Chambers, being a key part of the team’s success.  And now, he has only elevated his game even more, now averaging nearly 17 points per game, continuing to show his ability to knock down shots from the perimeter, and show his ability to score in a variety of other ways (not just from three). Dorn has a college-ready frame, has taken his game to another level given the opportunity, and can be a lethal weapon on the floor with his shot-making ability.  That is why it is easy to see, as one of the top unsigned seniors in North Carolina, Dorn should be coveted by schools all around and his recruitment should take off even more.”

“When you watch his game, he certainly brings intriguing play with his outside shot-making to go along with his development and his size.  He is a long, physical and skilled prospect that has shown to be a sharp-shooter from outside as well as show instincts in creating for himself.”

“Quite possibly the strangest situation of any unsigned player in the state, Nick Dorn remains available despite literally doubling his production across the board. Of his Division I offers, only three have come in the last twelve months and none since the start of his fairly dominant senior season. The scenario genuinely feels fake. How else could someone explain a 6-foot-6 knockdown shooter with IQ, athleticism, and the ability to excel within a variety of different roles still being available? Add in his GPA, basketball lineage, and low-maintenance presence, and it makes even less sense. Dorn is a career 37% three-point shooter on over 300 attempts (not even accounting for the fact that he grew multiple inches). Seriously, what are we talking about? Dorn is a pure victim of the landscape becoming a circus, as coaches are preying on the transfer portal instead of pursuing what is readily available. He’s as deserving of offers as anyone in the state.”

“Another unsigned senior that continues to go under the radar is 2023 6’5 Nick Dorn at Chambers. Now that he has the floor, Dorn has stepped up for his team as a clear leader for this team and he has shown countless of times that he can get red-hot from behind the arc and torch the nets when he gets going. Dorn has really elevated more of his overall game but you know the one thing that you will get with him; his outside shooting. He checks off many boxes already: college-ready frame, ability to score, athletic, and a threat from the perimeter.”
