Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Bailey Wiseman
Class: 2021
Committed to: Converse College

What the Player Said:

PHR: What made Converse the place for you in the end?

Wiseman: Converse gives me the opportunity to come in as a freshman and play big minutes, while also making history.  We are the first men’s team to ever compete there and I also get to do it with my childhood friend.  I always believed that everything happens for a reason and everything that happened this past summer was just pointing me in the direction of Converse in the end.  I also have a great relationship with Coach Saunders as well as Coach Thayer.

PHR: What was your excitement about joining Cohen Gaskins in that class?

Wiseman: We have been close friends since the 7th grade.  Going to school together was something we had talked about since the beginning. It’s still a little bit surreal for both of us.

PHR: What do they hope you can bring to the table as far as your game?

Wiseman: I think they are looking for me to be a leader and a main focal point in the offense.  They want me to come in and make an impact from the jump.

What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:

“He’s a crafty, exciting point guard prospect with a phenomenal balance between playmaking and three-level scoring. Wiseman is somewhat unassuming, but will quickly break down his assignment, get into the paint, and finish or make an excellent pass. He’s an extremely reliable perimeter shooter and is possibly the most accurate shooter off the dribble in the state. Wiseman is deceptively quick and looks to touch the paint as often as possible. He pursues rebounds at a consistent rate and can operate without the ball, given his spot-up prowess.” – SC Top 80 Evaluations

“Bailey is a killer on the offensive end. He is a crafty, high IQ guard that gets to his spots and scores with ease. He is an excellent shooter with out of the gym range and has good elevation and a quick release.  He can shoot off the catch and off the dribble and is consistent.  Bailey can score from all three levels and is a nightmare for any defender. He has one of the best midrange games and is one of the best all-around shooters in the state of South Carolina. He is a tough guard who doesn’t back down or cracks under pressure. He is athletic and uses his IQ to his advantage on the defensive end as well. Bailey is also a natural-born leader and the heartbeat for his team, bringing energy and intensity. He was named to the 5A All-State team and 5A Region 7 Player of the Year this past season.” – Khalil Shakir

“He’s a dynamic shot-creator with the ability to pick his spots and accumulate points from anywhere on the floor. Wiseman is a lethal three-point shooter, both off the catch and bounce, and understands how to utilize his gravity to keep opposing defenses on their toes. He can effortlessly succeed from either guard position, but genuinely just seems to make the team run like a well-oiled machine with the ball in his hands.” – Jeff Bendel
