Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Solomon Tucker
Class: 2020
Committed to: Army

What the Player Said:

Q: Congratulations on the commitment to Army.  What made that the place for you in the end'

Tucker: Thank you and I took a visit there earlier this week and it was the coaching staff that made the biggest impression.  You can tell that they are genuine about everything they say and that they really take care of their players.  I also got a chance to talk with some of the guys already there and just being around them, you can tell it is like a family there and it's something I just couldn't say no too.

Q: When did they offer you and what has your relationship been like with the staff'

Tucker: They offered on Tuesday during the visit and I was in contact with Coach Beifield. He first contacted me in December and since then, he's been to a couple of games and we talked frequently. Then about a month ago, I had a phone call with Coach Allen and I got a chance to mee the rest of the staff during the visit.

Q: What are you hoping to bring to the program and what does the staff want you to bring'

Tucker: They mentioned a couple of times how they liked my ability to play both ways and bring energy they've been looking for on the defensive end.  I'm hoping to bring that and just keep developing my offense at the same time and work on stretching the floor a little more.

What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:

'Finishing up, we look at a player that was arguably the most reliable two-way piece for this team, Solomon Tucker. He's a long, smart, defensive-minded forward/post prospect that simply knows how to create havoc with his nonstop motor. Tucker utilizes his length very well around the basket as a finisher, rebounder, and rim-protector. He runs the floor effectively in transition and plays within the team concept at all times. Next in his development process is working to become a more useful ball-handler, as it would make him a more lethal offensive threat. Coach Kaplan on Tucker: 'Solomon is very coachable and well spoken. He ran with the Charlotte Aces this past summer and is attracting interest from high level D3s and D1 service academies. Solomon has nice post ups and finishes at the basket, able to effectively run the pick-and-roll or pick-and-pop. He's a young Bill Russell on the defensive end! I wish I had 10 players like Solomon Tucker!!' Tucker was an excellent leader throughout camp and should play a vital role in the success of Northside Christian.' – NC Phenom 150 Evaluation in 2019

'Tucker did so many other little things that brought energy to his team, especially on the defensive end.  He had to battle down low offensively but defensively is where he caught our attention, recording seven blocks, rebounded well, and really helped make it tough at times for CFA to attack inside.' – Game Report in 2020
