Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Charles Bediako
Class: 2021
Committed to: Alabama

What is Alabama getting:

Bediako has been a favorite of ours at Phenom Hoops, as we have had several chances in watching him play over the years. Whether it was ISA in the past or with IMG Academy recently this year, Bediako looks to be a big part of the future for Alabama.  The Crimson Tide is getting a tremendous talent and one that can be a staple down in the paint in the years to come.  Bediako is a long, mobile big that simply can make plays on both ends. He is a true 7-footer around the rim with a tremendous wingspan, long body, and moves well around the court.  He certainly brings that shot-blocking, rim-protecting mentality as well. Bediako has really good footwork, which allows him to feel comfortable in stepping out.  But he does a lot of damage around the rim, showing good touch and finishing over defenders offensively. He also runs the floor very well for his size, which can help offensively and defensively.  Bediako is one of the top centers out there and he will be joining up with a few teammates once again at Alabama.  He is still just scratching the surface of what he ultimately could be at the end, which is scary.

What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:

“What don’t you like about someone with his size, his mobility, and his impact on the game all over the floor.  He has a tremendous wingspan and battled through contact down in the post but he also showcased his mobility and versatility as well.  Bediako’s ability to step out and be an impact from the perimeter as well as showcase his power was impressive.” – Patrick O’Brien in 2019

“It started out slow but Bediako came on strong in the second half.  This is still a developing 7-footer but one that can instantly make an impact on offense and defense.  He has really good footwork, moves well with or without the ball, and also provides that wall around the rim with his long arms.” – Patrick O’Brien at PG Nationals in 2021

“When watching him play, while still raw, you see a player who is at his best rim running and playing in the dunk spots (a la Capela) on the offensive end of the floor. On top of that you see a player who runs like a gazelle, filling the lanes in transition like a wing. He can step out and knock down shots, but he is also able to bury his man deep on the block at times and finish comfortably over his left shoulder. Defensively, he is a rim protector, a very good, quick twitch, lengthy rim protector.” – Phenom in 2019
