Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day. It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: CJ Huntley
Class: 2020
Committed to: Appalachian State

What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:

'Huntley brings a high level of versatility to the table as a big man, which is something coaches of all levels are looking to put on the court in 2019. At 6'9 he possesses a wiry frame that allows him to move around the court like a wing, run the court with a high motor, and protect the rim as a defensive anchor. 3 Point shooting aside, Huntley has what it takes to be an effective modern big, while not straying away from the old school things coaches want their big men to do like setting good screens, rebounding the ball, and taking efficient shots.' – Miles Masercola in 2019

'CJ has a ton of potential to be a big-time player. He improved tremendously throughout the high school season as a freshman on the varsity team. He is nearly automatic from 15 ft. and has range out to the 3-point line. As he adds weight and strength, he will be a force in the paint on offense and defense. CJ handles the ball really well for his size allowing him to help break pressure and drive the ball from the perimeter. He is extremely respectful and eager to build on his skill set.' – HS coach in 2017

'We're talking about a lengthy, fluid and smooth forward that has an advanced skill set. He has the ability to knock down the mid-range jump shot or finish at the rim with either hand. Huntley has 'soft' passer friendly hands and nifty footwork in the post. More importantly, Huntley displayed a nice shooting touch and finished with 18 points in the win. In our opinion, Huntley is just now starting to scratch the surface on his long-range upside and potential. He is a definite 'buy now' prospect.' – Rick Lewis in 2019 (Low Country Showcase)
