Each and every time Phenom Hoops gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Zion Walker
Class: 2024
Committed to: Mount St. Mary’s

What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:

“This young man may be having the best start to the season in North Carolina, over all players.  Walker was at it again and was the talk of the event on Day 2 with his 31-point performance. Walker seems to be hitting another level in his game, showing just how big of an impact he can be on the floor. His strength, his locked in mentality, his physicality and ability to get downhill, his shot-making ability, and his impact on both sides of the floor are impressive and his recruitment could continue to see a rise; it should.”

“It seems that Walker is starting to be a regular in our articles but with the way he has played in the last month, he deserves every moment of praise. It was a great weekend for Walker, as he surpassed the 1,000-point mark but he also continued to show his full impact on the court. His strong feel, his balanced playmaking and IQ, his decision-making, and his ability to get to the basket and make plays. Walker has been playing at another level all season long and I don’t see him slowing down any time soon.”

“Without sounding like a broken record, Walker continues to warrant a ton of attention—both from spectators and college coaches alike. It’s easy to see why his recruitment has picked up, as the strong, physical guard has been nothing short of incredible for the Spartans. He gets downhill whenever he wants and possesses the necessary blend of strength, toughness, and body control to finish pretty much anything he attempts around the basket. Walker hits jumpers at a consistent clip, sets up others, and makes a steady impact on the glass. He’s a nice defender who welcomes physicality and forces turnovers at a healthy rate. All the buzz surrounding Walker is completely justified.”

“Walker’s game is unique. He made big-time plays in big-time situations. Even though The Burlington School fell short, he played extremely well. He shot the buzzer-beater jumper to enter the second quarter. Later in the fourth quarter, he tied the game with seconds left to go. He facilitates the floor on offense being able to create shots for himself. He causes havoc on the defensive end of the floor by locking down defenders and not being afraid to take a charge. He finishes around the rim and is aggressive getting there. Overall, a solid player on both ends of the court.”
