Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Domas Kauzonas

What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:

“There shouldn’t be a whole lot of discussion needed to understand why someone like Domas Kauzonas has taken a strong leap in the rankings. Even last December, it was easy to see his potential blow-up looming. Kauzonas is a long, wiry, skilled big man with touch, post moves, and reliable floor-spacing ability. He finishes with either hand, displays a useful arsenal on the block, and overwhelms opponents with his perimeter skill. Kauzonas alters shots effectively, scores from all three levels, and rebounds his position well on both ends of the floor. He’s also a solid all-around athlete who should only get better with time and continued strength development. Kauzonas has obvious appeal at the next level.”

“Although it might be slightly bending the rules, Kauzonas is still considered a “North Carolina” prospect despite playing in Georgia. Either way, it’s easy to see the appeal with the skilled big man. Given our viewing during his recent high school season, it was confusing as to why he didn’t hold any offers. At 6-foot-10, Kauzonas possesses touch, length, post ability, and perimeter shooting. He moves well for his size, alters/blocks shots at a nice rate, and rebounds effectively on both ends of the floor. Kauzonas utilizes his length well to finish and disrupt opponents defensively. He displays nice vision, especially for his size, and plays hard on either side of the ball. Kauzonas collected a trio of offers between July and August, and should only continue trending upward over the foreseeable future.”

“The big man continues to show promise in his game.  Though there are still areas that he can continue to develop, you have to like his ability to score with his back to the basket and show a soft touch, but also step out and be a threat from outside at times.  The 6’10 forward has made progress in his game and continues to be an active presence in the paint and on the glass.”

“While predicting a breakout for a skilled 6-foot-10 big man is far from a reach, Kauzonas still isn’t receiving enough attention from college coaches. He’s big, mobile, and extremely skilled for his size/position. Kauzonas can confidently finish with either hand, over either shoulder, or faceup with relative ease. He utilizes his body well to absorb contact, but can also finish with footwork and finesse around the basket. Kauzonas rebounds nicely, alters shots at a strong rate, and runs the floor properly in transition. Given all of his appealing attributes, it’s unclear why more programs aren’t involved.”
