Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Cole Callaway
Class: 2023
Committed to: Newberry

What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:

'Given our number of viewings throughout the years, it's fair to say that Cole Callaway has worked tirelessly to further his game'and has done so. While a healthy bulk of his long-term value still lies within his abilities as a three-point shooter, it would be impossible to deny his overall leadership qualities (in all facets of the game) from the last five days of play. Make no mistake, Callaway still shot the ball at a high percentage and burdened the Riptide's offense in majority of their showings. However, his presence as a defender and rebounder were certainly worth noting. Callaway made a clear point to battle on the glass, and seemingly doubled his rebounding numbers in less than two weeks. He also locked-in defensively, showing a definite fire and streak of toughness in multiple notable matchups. Callaway also displayed the ability to create for himself and others within a few dribbles.'

'He's a young, smart, well-rounded guard prospect that has added a noticeable amount of strength and skill over the last few months. Callaway is a lethal shooter but showed his ability to get involved in all facets of the game during camp.'

'Fresh off his commitment, Callaway stepped up as the veteran leader he is for this team and elevated his game by being a threat from outside but so not settling and really attacking the defense and getting to the basket. Callaway really looked to embrace contact and finish or get to the line, something he has done much more with him getting stronger as a player.'

'Callaway finds himself on another standouts list, as he is one that looks like one of the clear leaders for his team this year.  But it will be interesting to see what he can do as a senior with the talent he has around him as well.  Callaway though did a great job in being physical and strong with the ball, getting into the paint and finishing strong around the basket with touch, just adding more to his game and shooting ability.'

'Callaway is the heart and soul of Lake Norman. He was the team's leading scorer last season and has only gotten better over the course of the summer. Known for his long-range shooting from beyond the 3-point line, Callaway has improved his athleticism. He has gotten stronger, quicker, and has improved tremendously off the bounce. More importantly, Callaway has become a more complete player, adding rebounding to his already impressive resume.'
