Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day. It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.
Here is the latest commitment.
Player: Tristin Harkins
Class: 2022
Committed to: Fayetteville State
What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:
“During the high school season, Harkins has only maintained his impressive production as a definite focal point for a very successful Pine Forest (14-2) squad. He’s leading the team in scoring (15.5 PPG), assists (3.1 APG), and steals (2.6 SPG) with impressive 53/43/75 shooting splits. Between his high school numbers and sheer consistency throughout the summer with Team Wall, it’s difficult to try and understand why schools aren’t pursuing him with more haste. Harkins is a great passer and smooth perimeter shooter with craftiness as a penetrator and overall creator. He’s a useful defender with nice anticipation instincts and quality feel on both ends of the floor. Harkins’ stock should continue to trend upward, as college coaches should be in pursuit.”
“The Fayetteville Flash has quietly been one of the more intriguing young squads on display, and Tristin Harkins really stood out among their most consistent performers throughout the event. He’s a long, wiry guard with a unique combination of ruggedness and smoothness. Harkins is extremely tough, and it’s evident in the way he defends all types of opponents. Not only does he accept physical play, he seems to welcome it. Harkins forced dozens of turnovers, both at the point of attack and by jumping into passing lanes, and made great decisions in transition. He’s a reliable rebounder that embraces doing the little things while still controlling the action and standing out as a leader. Though Harkins was undeniably impressive on defense, he was equally as reliable as an all-around offensive dynamo. He showcased a strong balance between playmaking and three-level scoring but seemed to be at his best down the stretch when the lights were at their brightest. Folks should be buzzing about Harkins after his showing at Summer Havoc, and his recruitment should subsequently follow in suit.”
“Harkins continues to be a name that goes under the radar in the class of 2022. This is fine but we have a feeling coaches will start taking notice. We certainly aren’t at the end product, but Harkins is a tough guard that can be pesky on the defensive end, score when the opportunities are there, and shows a nice overall offensive skillset. Also think that his game should continue to grow.”
“Matching up against Trinity Christian, Pine Forest brought and competed for the entire game. What stood out though was the guard play for the Trojans. Starting with the leader of this program, senior 6’1 Marquis Askew displayed his ability to be a physical, downhill type of guard. He played tough with good speed and embraced contact, leading his team in scoring. But fans also need to start tracking 2022 Tristin Harkins and 2023 Isaiah Washington. Harkins is a crafty guard that has a smooth release from three as well as surprising speed to get by defenders and create for himself. He leads the team in three’s this season and really liked how he competed on the floor.” – in Jan. 2020
