Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Mike Best Jr.
Class: 2022
Committed to: Allen University

What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:

'Mike attacked the rim and defending at his usual rate. Knocked down a triple while attempting to show his reliability from behind the arc. I think his senior season at Word of God will serve him well, allowing him the opportunity to play alongside other athletes I expect to make an impact at the college level.'

'We can say that the Best brothers had themselves a strong Day 1 at the Phenom Showcase.  Mike though really displayed his shiftiness, change of speed and direction, and his natural feel in making plays on the court.  He made multiple tough buckets, forced himself through defenders, and plays with such a competitive edge.  Best is one of those guards that you just love to have on the court with his ability to make play for himself and for others.'

'Best is an intriguing guard to watch, especially after the season he recently had with Wayne Country Day.  Best is coming off a season in which he put up some impressive numbers and impacts the game in an array of ways, scoring 17.4 points, 7.5 assists, 6.6 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game as a junior. Best can knock down shots from the perimeter, sees the floor very well and finds his teammates for easy buckets, and also brings a nice presence on both sides of the floor. The floor general showed this past season that he can knock down shots, shooting 61 percent from the floor and 45 percent from three, and he could be a hot target for many college programs.'

'Best is an intriguing talent to watch this season at Wayne Country Day.  Last year, he was a key piece at Wayne Country Day, averaging 12.7ppg and shooting 42 percent from three.  This year, through a limited time early on, Best has been stepping up his game in being a playmaker on the floor, filling up the stat sheet.  So far, he is averaging nearly 19 points per game but is shooting 55 percent from three and 68 percent from the floor.  You may not always see his name on a list like this but people need to start taking a look more his way, as he is showing just what he can provide and be a threat from outside.'
