Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Maxwell Coles
Class: 2022
Committed to: Ranger College

What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:

'Next, we look at a player that easily stood out as one of the most impressive scorers in attendance, Maxwell Coles. He's a smart, crafty, well-rounded guard prospect with the necessary instincts to effortlessly create scoring opportunities from all three levels. Coles can initiate the offense, set up others, or simply carry the offensive load for periods at a time. He moves well without the ball to find open space, both as a cutter and spot-up threat. Coles' understanding of timing and defenses allow him to pick his spots and access basically whatever shot he chooses. Next in his development process is working on his consistency as a three-point shooter, as it would make him even tougher to contain for opponents. Coach Black on Coles: 'Maxwell was our most reliable scorer and showed the ability to create shots whenever we needed them. He played hard on both ends of the floor. Maxwell was very useful in a variety of roles and displayed a positive attitude throughout the weekend. I enjoyed coaching him.' Coles has been quite consistent over the last few months and furthered his quality play at camp, averaging 17 PPG, and should be able to carve out a solid role for North Meck during the upcoming season.'

'2022 Maxwell Coles is a name some may know and some that don't but the 6'0 guard has been putting in the work, preparing himself for what he hopes to be a big summer and a big season at North Meck.  Coles is a player that continued to pop up on reports and standouts, as he has really elevated his game over the past few years.  Playing for JV before, Coles has certainly put in the hours of work to develop his game, get stronger, and is now a nice piece for the Vikings and he isn't stopping there.  The one thing outside of his game and ability to score that you have to respect is his work ethic, playing with a chip on his shoulder.'

'2022 Maxwell Coles (Mint Hill Lakers): Talk about another unsigned senior, Coles may have had the best performance of the day, going off for 47 points and doing whatever he wanted on the floor. He is a terrific all-around guard that can play multiple roles on the floor. He doesn't need the spotlight to be effective, but he can also step up and be a big offensive threat.  Coles is just a do-it-all type player that works hard on and off the court.'

'On the other side, Coles should also appeal to quite a variety of different programs. He's an all-around guard with the adaptability to operate in multiple types of roles. Coles can initiate the offense or play alongside a primary ball-handler. He can create for himself or others, and apply efficient scoring pressure from all three levels. Coles is a rugged defender with nice activity and anticipation, which regularly leads to transition play. He's capable of doing a little bit of everything within the flow of the action. Coles offers an incredibly steady presence on either side of the ball, and should be able to carve out a useful role wherever he ultimately ends up.'
