Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day. It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.
Here is the latest commitment.
Player: Mady Traore
Committed to: NC State
What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:
“It is easy to see why with his long-term potential and the upside with his game. We are talking about a 6’11 stretch forward prospect who understands how to operate on multiple levels, has a tremendous feel along the perimeter both offensively and defensively, can be an effective rim-protector with his wingspan, and can find ways to impact the game outside of scoring. Traore moves extremely well for his size and has a game that allows him to use his size to his advantage, rising over defenders with ease but also displaying good footwork and agility that allows him to take advantage against true bigs.”
“Finishing up, we look at a player who possesses an obvious amount of long-term upside, Mady Traore. He’s a long, wiry post prospect with floor-spacing ability and an intriguing amount of skill for his size/position. Traore has a variety of enticing physical tools and moves pretty well when running the floor in transition. He shoots the ball at a respectable percentage from beyond the arc, but also displays the ability to penetrate against opposing big men. Traore utilizes his length to effectively secure rebounds and alter shots as a rim-protector. Next in his development process is working to add strength, as it will only help prepare him for the collegiate game. Coach Robinson on Traore: “Mady is tall and finishes well around the rim. He’s a skilled big with the ability to shoot the three-pointer. Blocks shots and gets to his spots in transition. He displayed a positive attitude throughout the day.” Traore showed some enticing flashes at camp and should be a major contributor for Bull City Prep during the upcoming season.”
“Probably one of the most unique players in the state, Mady Traore is another great representation of how difficult it is to get recruited right now. He’s an extremely long, wiry post prospect with elite size and undeniable upside on either side of the ball. While Traore is certainly not a finished product in terms of development, it’s easy to see the flashes of a modern center who can rebound, block shots, and stretch the floor. He’s also a solid finisher and utilizes his length very well on both ends of the floor. Traore moves very well for his size and runs the floor properly in transition. He’s generated a lot of buzz over the years, and should only continue to progress wherever he ends up.”
“Traore is a unique prospect with his blend of size, feel, and skill set. At 6’11, Traore displays a unique feel for the game with his ability to operate as a wing but also make his presence felt as a rim-protector defensively. With his understanding of how to be productive inside and out, his fluid mobility to put the ball on the deck and score, his ability to step out and be a threat from the perimeter, and his touch and feel around the basket, Traore is one that college programs certainly can find intrigue with his game and the potential of what he could at the end. And again, that doesn’t mention his ability to be a presence on the defensive end.”
