Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Jaxon Ellingsworth
Class: 2022
Committed to: East Carolina

What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:

'The long forward came up big when his team needed him too.  He was able to finish well around the basket, find ways to get the ball on the rim against some tough length from Northwood, but also step out and display his mid-range game as well.  The senior came up big on the boards as well and from the line, as he eventually sealed the win.'

'No shocker here, Ellingsworth finds himself on this list.  He was outstanding last year as a junior and continued to show his production this summer. Now, he is helping carry the team once again, posting some outstanding numbers again.  The senior forward brings good athleticism, shows upside with his game, displays nice touch, and a comfort level in stepping out.  West Carteret looks like a team on a mission once again and Ellingsworth is helping lead the way again.'

'Anyone who has seen Jaxon Ellingsworth in the right context should already know about his incredible toolkit and overall amount of talent. He's a very skilled, athletic post prospect with touch, toughness, and mobility. Ellingsworth finishes and passes very well from the block, but can also comfortably operate from the elbows, space the floor from distance, or attack opposing bigs off the bounce. He's comfortable at protecting the rim or defending in space, showing the ability to contain opponents in both areas. Ellingsworth also rebounds well on either side of the ball. It's unclear if he even grasps the overall depth of his upside, but Ellingsworth has the ability to be a noteworthy player.'

'From the outside looking in, the last twelve months has been somewhat of a rollercoaster for Ellingsworth. He and West Carteret completely dominated an undefeated Northern Guilford squad in the third round of last year's playoffs, where the 6-foot-8 forward tallied 20 points, 14 rebounds, and 7 blocks. Following the season, Ellingsworth simply continued to destroy opponents every time he took the floor. In April, it seemed impossible to envision a scenario where Division I schools wouldn't be fighting for his services. Things began to gradually cool off throughout the summer, and then it just felt like folks started to underrate him within the bigger picture. However, the high school season started and Ellingsworth picked up right where he left off. As the clear leader of the Patriots (15-3), he's posting nightly averages of 21.6 PPG, 10.4 RPG, and 1.4 BPG with 59/33/69 shooting splits. Furthermore, Ellingsworth has secured ten double-doubles while never finishing below 11 points. Add in the size, skill, fluidity, and athleticism, and programs are simply overlooking a valuable asset.'
