Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day. It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.
Here is the latest commitment.
Player: Ifeanyi Ufochukwu
Class: 2022
Committed to: Boston University
What is Boston Getting:
Really do believe that Boston University is getting a nice steal in this young and developing big man. Iffy is a long, 6’11 big that moves extremely well on both ends and understands how to use his size to his advantage. A mobile big, he makes himself big down low and really does a great job in being a rim-protector and blocking shots. Offensively, he runs the floor very well and gets to his spot down low, while also showing nice touch around the rim. But again, still believe that he is just scratching the surface of what he could be at the end of his college career. He has put in the work to get where he is today and Boston University got a nice piece to help down low in the paint on both ends.
What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:
“Big man Iffy really made an impression on us with his play and should have made an impression with the college coaches. The 6’11 long big showcased his developing skill while still being a true presence defensively in the paint. Ufochukwu uses his wingspan really well in being a rim protector without fouling, while also being a big presence on the boards. Now, he is still a developing talent on the offensive end but you see the flashes and the potential in what he could be at the end. This is why it is intriguing to see why more schools aren’t getting involved with his size and potential. He gave us a glimpse this weekend.”
“He is a 6’10 big that has really changed it all around. Coach Parrish has done a tremendous job working with him and getting his body ready, as you will see something totally different from his game last year. He is a two-way player, using his length to disrupt shots around the rim and mid-range, blocking shots, and rebounding. But he also moves so much better on the court, continuing to run the floor, get his hands ready, and making himself big to finish at the rim. Ufochukwu could be a HUGE stock riser after this season.”
“Ufochukwu is a 6’10 prospect that holds a few offers already but still seems to be regarded as an underrated prospect compared to other bigs in North Carolina. But there is a lot to like about his game and the steps he has made in his game can be seen, with a lot more potential to his game. Iffy has really worked hard in developing his body and conditioning and provides frontcourt size and an interior defensive presence. He has nice timing on blocking shots, moves really well for his size, and runs the floor well to finish or be a presence in the paint. He is strong, active, and does a nice job in clogging up the lane and making himself big without fouling. Again, there is still room to grow with his game but Ufochukwu is one to continue to monitor and his development.”
