Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day. It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.
Here is the latest commitment.
Player: Daniel Sanford
Class: 2022
Committed to: South Carolina
What is South Carolina Getting:
The Gamecocks got a good one up in North Carolina. One of the premier players in the state for the class of 2022, Sanford certainly checks a lot of boxes with his game and should be able to impact the floor in an array of ways. First off, he is built like a football player, bringing a physical stature and game to the floor but also moving extremely well for his size. That allows him to operate on multiple levels, run the floor, finish at the rim with authority, and play with a physical attitude on both ends of the floor. And he has continued to improve in areas of stretching his game out along the perimeter. Sanford should be able to play and operate from several areas of the floor but one thing is for sure, the Gamecocks are getting a player that will come to work and bring a physical presence to the floor.
What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:
“As the leader for the most talented public-school team in the state, Daniel Sanford should be a pretty well-known figure within North Carolina basketball. He’s a big, strong, explosive forward prospect with nice versatility on both ends of the floor. Sanford utilizes his toughness and sturdy frame to consistently overwhelm opponents, particularly as a downhill penetrator and interior finisher. He moves well very for his size, shows the ability to defend multiple positions, and is capable of scoring the ball from all levels. Sanford genuinely thrives as an interior piece but has visibly developed his perimeter skills over the last calendar year. Already armed with a variety of high-major offers, it’ll be exciting to see where he ends up.”
“With Sanford fully healthy and rolling for this team, he just brings a different dynamic to this team. With his ability to play so physical, battle through and around opponents, run the floor and finish at the rim, continue to show his expanding game, and his defensive presence… it is just a different team.”
“2022 Daniel Sanford has big-time upside. 7’2 wingspan, young for his age. Super physical and high-level motor. Rebounds everything. Has the ability to switch and guard on the perimeter.”
“Daniel’s game is unique in comparison to his in-state peers, as there are not many players I can think of that possess his specific tools. He can work inside out, face-up from the high post, handle the ball in order to attack from the perimeter, and is one of the best rebounding wings in the state of North Carolina.”
