Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day. It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.
Here is the latest commitment.
Player: Christian Reeves
Class: 2022
Committed to: Duke
What is Duke Getting:
Monday night, 2022 Christian Reeves announced that he would be heading to Duke, giving the Blue Devils another future weapon and another prospect that will be part of a loaded 2022 recruiting class. Reeves may be a new name for some Duke fans but certainly a name many already know about in the state of North Carolina. Reeves looks to be a long-term type prospect for the Blue Devils but you can’t deny his true 7-foot frame. Now back on the court and being healthy, Reeves has been able to show how big of a difference-maker he can be as a shot-blocker and rim protector, as well as a presence on the boards. But he is still has a developing offensive game, something that he will be able to work and learn from the players at and coming into Duke next year. Reeves will be able to provide depth early, be a presence in the paint defensively, and be a developing talent down the road for the Blue Devils.
What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:
“It shouldn’t be too difficult to understand the value in having a fluid seven-footer on a national team like Oak Hill, so there should be definite excitement surrounding the addition of Christian Reeves to the roster. He’s long, mobile, and embraces his low-maintenance identity extremely well on both ends of the floor. Reeves possesses obvious appeal as a finisher, rebounder, and rim protector. He runs hard in transition and doesn’t try to operate outside of his comfort zone. Assuming he stays healthy, Reeves should receive plenty of attention from high-major programs.”
“Man, it is great to see Reeves back healthy and on the court again… and it seems that he is ready to show why he is a rising talent in the country. The 7-footer was dominant all throughout the weekend, showcasing his touch and his ability to dominate down in the post. Reeves is such a unique big with his mobility, his timing, his touch, and is now showing more of his assertive side of his game. He is such a difference-maker for Cannon on both sides of the floor, and with his growing confidence, Cannon looks to be right back in the picture for a state title and his recruitment should continue to take off.”
“The 7-footer is one of the most recognized & praised athletes in sports, especially in basketball. It is rare that a single state has multiple talented players reaching a true 7-feet while in high school, let alone exceeding it. Christian Reeves told me he now stands at 7’1, and quite frankly I have absolutely no doubts regarding the validity of that. The center prospect has some of the most upside in the state, and displayed some of his improvements in limited action this week. Reeves first jump has gotten quicker, allowing him more and more opportunities to finish at the rim. Along with becoming a reliable interior target, Reeves is using his size to disturb opposing players at the rim. One of, if not, the clearest(s) Division One caliber frames of the tournament.”
“Reeves has faced some tough times with injuries but there is no doubt about it, when he is on the floor, he makes a difference on the defensive side. Reeves brings a long 7-foot frame and even longer when he gets his arms up. Every time we saw Reeves, he simply makes a high wall against opponents and is a legitimate shot-blocker. If he doesn’t get his hands on it, he certainly alters shots or makes opponents think about attacking the paint.”
