Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Antoine Piper
Class: 2022
Committed to: Cape Fear

What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:

'After battling an injury in the first game, Piper came back strong and showed of big of a piece he can be for this team. With his physical strength and bully mentality against opponents, Piper can really score well through defenders and get to spots that he wants; as well as help on the boards.  Finished with a double-double in Game 2.'

'While he doesn't usually receive as much press as others on this roster, Piper's tough, gritty, team-first mentality will bring obvious value to this group. He's strong, athletic, and plays with a high motor on both ends of the floor, which allows him to make a consistent impact without necessarily requiring the ball in his hands. Piper is a quality rebounder and defender with finishing ability'through contact and above the rim.'

'Let's begin this by saying, Antoine Piper is the X-factor for this Chambers team and is worthy of more college interest. He sets the tone for this team, especially on the defensive end. He gets out and pressures opposing ball-handlers and makes it difficult for them to easily initiate their offense. On the offensive end, he attacks the basket strong. He uses his physical, athletic frame, to get downhill and finish through contact.'

'Antoine Piper often times doesn't get the credit or accolades that some of his other teammates might receive. However, he is extremely important to the success of this team. He is without a doubt one of the best defenders in the state. He is tough, strong, athletic, and has the ability to guard multiple positions. He can guard the ball and force tough shots from opposing guards. If he gets switched onto a post player, he utilizes his strength to force them off the block. Although he only scored 6 points, he also added 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. He came up with timely steals that led to baskets as Chambers made their fourth-quarter run. In addition, he found open teammates and made the right unselfish play.'

'Pretty much every team can utilize someone like Piper, who really understands how to thrive within a role on both ends of the floor. He's a strong, unselfish, blue-collar guy with a high motor and willingness to consistently do the dirty work. Piper is a physical athlete with a sturdy frame, defensive prowess, and a strong rebounding presence. His complementary game allows him to produce within the flow of the action. Final stats: 13 points and 3 rebounds.'
