What has Wright said about South Carolina:
Full Article: 2021 Jacobi Wright earns first SEC offer from Gamecocks (April 2020)
PHR: How did that whole conversation go with Coach Frank when he offered and what did he have to say?
Wright: He was just telling me what he needed in my class. That I would be coming in and that I would be a great fit for what he was losing that year. I would be great in that system.
PHR: How long has that relationship been going on with you and the coaching staff at South Carolina?
Wright: The first time I started to build a relationship with Coach Frank was when he came to my school. He came to a practice and I made a pretty good impression on him and we have been in touch since then. I have been able to make visits to the school and continue to build on that relationship. Since everything has been slowing down lately, we have had a chance to learn more about the school.
What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:
“Jacobi Wright is simply one of the top scoring point guards in the Carolinas. He has a strong frame along with an advanced skill set and has the ability to get to the rim with ease. Wright finished with 25 points against Arizona Compass Prep going 9-19 from the floor, 3-9 from 3-point, and 4-6 from the free throw line. Wright can score from all three levels and his stock continues to climb.” – Rick Lewis in 2019
“Wright was an absolute player on the court. His change of pace with his handles could not be stopped, as he continued to get by his defender on multiple occasions. Wright’s ability to break down opponents 1-on-1 as well as showcase his vision on the floor was big time.” – Patrick O’Brien from Battle at the Rock in 2019
“He’s one of the smartest, fundamentally sound point guard prospects in the Southeast and his showing at camp only continued to further that notion. Offensively, Wright is an incredible playmaker with a natural feel for his teammates; he scores efficiently from all three levels with great regularity. He’s beginning to play above the rim, which should terrify every opponent on his schedule. Wright sees the floor unlike most guards and can make passes from unfathomable angles. He never makes a bad pass, especially in transition, and simply leads by example on the court. Wright is the type of talented, high IQ, high character prospect that any coach would love to have run their team.” – SC Top 80 evaluation in 2018
