What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:

'I've grown so much since I began at Oak Hill my sophomore year.' Being able to play with and against some of the highest level of talent has been a great experience.' It has given me the opportunity to learn and develop my game a lot.' Coach Smith has always been honest with me and told me the truth about where I stood, and I will always appreciate that.' It helped me own my development and get better each year increasing my opportunities to show my results in games.'' I can see the improvement I have made so far looking at my game stats and film from my sophomore to junior year.' And, it also showed based on my increased game minutes during my junior year.' I hope the trend will continue my senior year, as I have not taken my foot off the gas pedal. I know my experience at Oak Hill will help me have a successful experience in college.' ' Jones in Phenom Hoops' Q&A in 2019 about his time at Oak Hill

'Darrick is a great basketball player, but an even better kid. He has a great work ethic and is always willing to grow and learn… His jump shot became more consistent as the year went on and Darrick became a good shooter.' He is the most athletic kid that I've ever coached, and he loves to get out in transition to show his athleticism.' At 6'5, Darrick can guard multiple positions and really loves to get in the passing lanes. He also rebounds the ball at a high rate.' ' AAU coach Russell Powell in 2016

'Darrick Jones is a strong and explosive wing that is fantastic in transition and is often on the giving end of some crowd-pleasing dunks. He's best going downhill but has also developed a more consistent mid-range game. Jones will be getting valuable minutes this season and will be asked to do a lot of things that often don't show up in the box score. Jones has the strength and athleticism to guard and play multiple positions and be the team's utility or glue guy.' ' Rick Lewis in Open Gym in 2019
