Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day. It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.
Here is the latest commitment
Player: Brandon Murray
Class: 2019
Committed to: St. Andrews
What the Player Said:
Q: How do you think you have grown as a player and have developed on the court'
Murray: I can say that I have grown tremendously as a player and I would say that just comes from wanting to have a bigger role on the team. I was originally just the shooter who would sit in the corner and knock it down whenever I caught it. I worked harder and harder each year to try to become an all-around player and though there is more work to be done, I believe I have done just that. I’ve definitely have become smarter in IQ and leadership. Being a captain my last two seasons really shaped me a lot, especially my senior year. Overall, I would say I had a big growth as a player and just as a teammate as well.
Q: What made you decide on St. Andrews'
Murray: I knew that I wanted to go where I am wanted and where I fit the best, not just focus on which level and SAU really showed a lot of love on the visit and the staff sat down with me and my parents, just expressing how interested they were in me and how much they believe I can contribute to their program. I knew that this was the best fit for me and I knew that it was where I was wanted by the staff.
Q: What does the staff hope you can provide to the team'
Murray: The staff hopes I can provide an immediate impact when I step on the campus. Due to the loss of key players to graduation, they will need some more scoring as well as playmaking. I can definitely provide that. They believe in me and I believe in the program and together, we can do some great things.
What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:
“Brandon Murray is one of the best shooters in the HoopState and has been over the course of his High School career. He’s been a steadily productive player in High School, Camp, and AAU settings, and has showcased his ability to shoot the ball from a deep range at a high-efficiency rate. He’s a long versatile defender to go with his ability to light it up from deep, and is a really crafty finisher around the rim, displaying patience and savvy when he’s slashing.” – Miles Masercola
“Murray has been a noted scorer over the past couple of years, but his game (and overall demeanor) have gone to a new level. He was attacking the rim today, finishing in the paint. He finished with 31 points, and also made 5 3s. This was a good-looking Murray, one that with consistent outputs like this should see scholarship level schools beating down his doors.” – Hoops and Dreams Showcase in 2018
