Coach’s Thoughts (Lloyd DeLoatch):

“Camron Kearney (Class of 2022), is a 6’5 guard at Salem High School in Virginia Beach, Va. He has a great combination of athleticism and shooting ability. His size, athleticism, and ball-handling skills allow him to be a very versatile player. He is a very efficient shooter from the 3-point line and has a strong mid-range game as well. This past season he averaged 15 ppg and 5 rebounds and was named 2nd Team All Beach District. Beyond the physical attributes, his most valuable assets may be his strong work ethic, leadership qualities, and genuine love of the process.”

What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:

“Camron is an exciting prospect given his length, agility, elite athleticism, his versatility, and his ability to create for himself and for teammates off the bounce. He has a great basketball body and a long wingspan and is a very fluid athlete with plenty of explosiveness. He has been coached up well and demonstrates solid footwork on the catch and shoot and in his off the dribble creativity. He has versatility on footwork finishes and has a crafty handle. Camron is skilled beyond his years and is a high IQ playmaker. He understands how to use his dribble and how to capitalize on his great length. He uses a nice quick and tight crossover dribble coupled with rangy strides to beat his man and really explodes into the lane where he is a crafty yet powerful finisher. He stays low and quick on change of direction moves and executes a number of dribble moves to beat his man including behind the back and between the legs dribble moves in addition to his nasty crossover dribble. He has the ability to hesitate then blow by his man off each of those moves! He understands how to create angles to get to the rim. Camron can stop on a dime and launch into a smooth and picture-perfect pull-up jumper and really shoots exceptionally well off the dribble in the mid-range area. He is a solid finisher, can get creative and get his shot off against contact or elevate and dunk on a defender and won’t hesitate to do so! He shows potential as a playmaker given his ability to break defenders down and get into the lane where he finds cutters and is an excellent passer. He knows where everyone is and makes sound decisions with the ball. Camron has solid footwork defensively and can defend multiple positions at the high school level. He has the potential to be an impact player as early as this coming season. He has a great motor and locks in defensively using his long reach and sound, quick footwork to contain the dribble. Rebounds both ends and exerts a lot of effort on both ends of the floor. Camron is an impact player right now as an incoming freshman and as his body continues to fill out, he will become a definite next-level prospect. His upside is off the charts! College coaches should begin monitoring him right now!” – Frank Bennett in Sept 2018
