The Phenom PG Nationals was a tremendous event that brought new talent on the biggest stage, and with college coaches roaming around the building, there should have been plenty of players that were put on college programs’ radars. Whether it was D1, D2, D3, or other levels, some players really stood out consistently at the event and should see their stock rise. Check out my list of players that college coaches should be looking at more.
2024 Dante Oliver (IMG)
Oliver had a very good showing overall at the Phenom PG Nationals, as a familiar face from North Carolina came back to the Phenom platform and displayed how his game has continued to improve. Oliver, a 6’4 prospect, was able to make strong plays and knock down shots from inside and out, while also getting downhill, getting to the line, and being one that can play on and off the ball. He is a skilled guard that shoots the ball well, has gotten stronger, and brings a well-rounded game.
2024 Papa Kounta (S3 Academy)
If there is a program looking for a late steal, Kounta could be one to look at as he checks off boxes that you have to like as a prospect. He is a 6’5 prospect who thrives in getting downhill and making plays, attacking the rim, using his size well, and bringing athleticism at his position. He is an effective offensive threat, gets to the rim, and applies pressure in an array of ways. Time after time, he was a strong offensive threat on the court in leading his team.
2024 Brandon Ivery (Athletes in Action Prep)
It was my first time watching Ivery in action, and in every game I watched he made his impact felt. Ivery plays with a strong motor and energy on both ends; he competes, he brings a physical feel, and strong athleticism, making him tough to guard. Ivery never backed down and attacked the rim but finished strong around and through defenders, consistently attacked off the dribble, and showed that he could knock down shots from an array of levels as well.
2024 Stefano Alesso-Rodriguez (Bridgeport Prep)
Alesso-Rodriguez certainly catches your eye as a 7-footer but you have to watch more of his game. Though I believe there are areas of development still left, he is a big man that really flashed at times with his ability to make reads and see the court, delivering strong passes to his teammates while also being a presence with soft touch around the basket.
2024 Affan Razzaq (V3 Prep)
Razzaq is one that we actually talked about last year during our live period, especially with his long 6’8 frame, how he moves, and what he can provide. He immediately stood out with his length and skill set, showing good handles, ability to make plays off the bounce, running the floor and finishing at the rim, and having an impact on the defensive end as well as his ability to alter shots. He was a force offensively in scoring for his team and could be a sneaky get for a program.
