What To Look Out For:

Rebuilding year for the Pirates'
The Pirates have struggled to put together strong seasons in the past as a program and now they are looking towards new head coach Michael Schwartz to change that around, as he takes over the program.  But he and his staff will have their work cut out for them, especially with the losses from last season.  Players like Tristen Newton (17.7ppg), Vance Jackson (13.1ppg), Brandon Suggs (10.1ppg), JJ Miles (7.1ppg), Alanzo Frink (5.7ppg), and Tremont Robinson-White (7.2ppg) are all gone and East Carolina will be looking like a completely different team.

Wynston Tabbs leading the charge
One player that East Carolina may be able to depend on is Jr. Wynston Tabbs, who comes from Boston College and averaged 13.7ppg in 27 games for the Eagles. Though he has battled some injuries, if he can stay healthy, Tabbs looks to be one of the clear leaders for this backcourt and one that has the most experience playing at the collegiate level.  He can score inside and be a big threat from outside, shooting 40 percent from behind the arc in 2020-21.  The Pirates will need him to stay healthy and be one of the go-to players for this roster.

Who takes the next step in their development'
There are a few names that return for the Pirates that could see an increased role this upcoming season.  So. RJ Felton was a solid guard that is athletic and explosive, and had some bright moments last year; he could be a guard to look out for. So. Javon Small is another one after seeing action in 16 games last year and being a nice role player.  Also, keep an eye out for So. 6'8 Brandon Johnson who had a solid first season at East Carolina, being effective in scoring around the basket and a great presence on the boards.

New names to watch out for
There are plenty of new names that you honestly could look at for. You could look at the 6'5 sophomore in Quentin Diboundje who followed Coach Schwartz from Tennessee.  Also can look for possibly Jr. Jaden Walker, who averaged just 3.0ppg in 36 games at Iowa State' could he one that breaks out'  Jr. Benjamin Bayela comes from South Plains College and hopes to help the Pirates, while there are a few freshmen like Saxby Sunderland, Ezra Ausar, and a few others that could get some early playing time and hopes to help out the Pirates this upcoming season.
