Phenom Hoops would like to proudly announce Colby Lewis as our new Vice President and Director of Scouting.
Lewis comes to Phenom from his most recent position with the UMBC Basketball program, where he was the Director of Recruiting and Program Development for the last two years.
Lewis began his college career as a preferred walk-on with The University of North Carolina at Charlotte before earning a scholarship his sophomore year. He stood out as a student-athlete and received several awards and accolades that included winning the Charles Hayward Memorial Grubstake Award in 2011 and 2013. As a senior, Lewis helped the 49ers win 21 games while capturing the Great Alaska Shootout title and earn a berth in the NIT.
While he was a four-year letterman at Charlotte, Lewis earned his Bachelors in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2012. He followed that academic and athletic success by earning his MBA from Charlotte in 2014, while also serving as the 49ers Graduate Assistant. Lewis worked closely with the coaching staff in all aspects of the team’s day-to-day operations. He followed up his success as a player by moving into the role of Associate Director of Basketball Operations in 2014 and then Video Coordinator for Charlotte in 2015.
Lewis brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Phenom, both as a player and a coach. In his role as Vice President and Director of Scouting, he will expand Phenom’s already proven recruiting process and help players and coaches successfully navigate this new era of recruiting by providing a great platform for players and the most accurate, up-to-date video and recruiting analysis available for coaches.
Lewis has a proven record of achievement and a drive to be the best. He has a passion for basketball and serving others. These qualities will prove very valuable for Phenom, players and coaches as we are poised to provide the most creative and accurate recruiting service possible.
“My father and his team have done an incredible job of providing young athletes a platform to improve their game and showcase their talent,” Lewis said. “Growing up, it was always my goal to play college basketball. By joining Phenom, I look forward to the opportunity of helping the next generation of basketball players reach their goals of playing at the next level.”
