Coach Rick’s “Getting to Know”
5’8 2021 Greg Brockington (Kings Mountain HS)
We’ve had the opportunity to watch Greg Brockington several times over the past year, whether it on in a team camp setting or playing for his regional travel ball team. His past season, Brockington averaged 12.5 PPG, 4.8 APG and 3.2 SPG.
These numbers are more impressive, especially since Brockington broke his foot in October and had to sit out until January. Coach Pierce stated the following. “Greg Brockington is a true point guard. He has an explosive first step and is great at getting into the paint and putting pressure on the defense. In addition, he is extremely strong and is able to finish through contact. Greg is also a great passer and has great court vision as is able to make great passes that lead to scoring options for his teammates. Defensively, Greg is one of the best ‘on ball’ defenders I have ever coached. He is a pest on opposing ball handlers and takes great pride in turning his man over.”
In every setting, we have been impressed with his effortless point of attack. He has superb quickness, athleticism and is extremely crafty with the ball in his hands, not to mention he has outstanding range on his jumper. We were also impressed with his leadership and “take charge” mentality on both sides of the ball.
