Coach Rick's All State 'Most Improved Player'

6'1 2022 Quave Propst-Allison (Cox Mill)

Cox Mill has been one of the most successful programs in the state from the 2016-17 to the 2018-19 season. They played in three NCHSAA 3A state championships, not to mention winning back to back for the 2016-17 and 2017-2018 season. Last season, Cox Mill lost the entire starting lineup that basically accounted for 98% of the scoring. Losing that much talent with the likes of Wendell Moore (Duke), Caleb Stone-Carrawell (Charlotte), Khalid Davis, Cody Cline and Malcolm Morgan, and their head coach is not easy to replace.

Fast forward to the 2019-20, Cox Mill literally wasn't on anyone's radar, Coach Ty Johnson took over a program that was short on experience with little to no expectations. That quickly changed as Cox Mill stunned the media and scouting pundits with an impressive 25-4 record. They were led by 6'1 sophomore Quave Propst who had an absolutely terrific season. Propst averaged 15 PPG, 6.1 RPG, 5.4 APG and was named South Piedmont Conference Player of the Year, First Team All-District, and led Cox Mill to a 25-4 record and ranked third in the state in the NCHSAA 3A. As a freshman, Prospt only averaged approximately two points per game and our only scouting report on Propst came in December of 2018 when we wrote, 'A young Freshman to watch, was extremely efficient and should be one of the guys to carry the torch when Wendell, Cody, and Caleb leave.' Our December, 2018 scouting report was spot on and no one improved more and was more valuable to their team's success than 6'1 sophomore Quave Propst. With that being said, Quave Propst is our Phenom All State Most Improved Player.

Coach Ty Johnson stated, “Quave is not just a great basketball, but he is a great human. The best thing about Quave isn't his basketball ability but him as a person. Seeing him in the hallways, locker room, and outside of the gym is what makes him special. Every teacher at Cox Mill loves Quave.
Quave bought into everything we did this season , he led us in points and assists, he always played team first and wasn't afraid to share the sugar averaging 5.3 assists per game. He put a ton of work into his game, and it showed, all the credit goes to him and the way he bought into his teammates and the way his teammates bought into him
